Rolf Thompson new Executive Director

Rolf Thompson and Harriet The National Eagle Center is delighted to introduce Rolf Thompson as our new Executive Director.

Mr. Thompson’s love of the outdoors led him to spend nearly twenty years in leadership with wilderness education camps. His tenure as Executive Director of the highly regarded YMCA Camp Widjiwagan included program development, strategic planning, major facilities additions andfundraising.

As Director of Development and Communications with the century-old Wilder Foundation in St. Paul, Thompson led fundraising initiatives including annual fund, planned giving and special events. Spearheading the Foundation’s first-ever capital campaign, Thompson exceeded the campaign’s $10 million goal in just three years while growing the annual donor base to more than 1,300 individuals.

“I’m eager to engage my passion for conservation and environmental education with the National Eagle Center,” say Thompson.  “The remarkable story of the recovery of the bald eagle has many lessons to teach us about how we can protect the natural world for generations to come.”

Thompson joins the National Eagle Center as we celebrate our fifth year in our landmark interpretive facility on the banks of the Mississippi River.
