Flying birds of prey, live animals and more this weekend!

March 24th and 25th

“SOAR with the Eagles” Events for the weekend of March 24th and 25th.

Our feature program this weekend is Save Our American Raptors (S.O.A.R.) South with their amazing flying raptors. You’ll meet flying hawks and owls, and the cutest Black Vulture, Cayce, all while learning about their important place in the natural world. Presenters Dale and John Stokes are lively, fun and bring with them decades of experience with many magnificent birds of prey. Saturday 11am and 2pm, Sunday 12pm and 2pm. All feature programs will be held at St Felix auditorium, Pembroke Ave, Wabasha, MN. Regular NEC admission rates include feature programs and live eagle programs. Any additional fees are noted below.

The National Eagle Center’s Live Eagle programs will be offered at 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

cartoon eagle2:30pm – Chris Cold presents Raptors of the Great Lakes Region. Wisconsin DNR naturalist Chris Cold will cover all 12 species of hawks, owls, eagles and osprey found in the region. Cold also brings with him some representative species, a Great Horned Owl, a Barred Owl and Red-Tail Hawk.  Second floor classroom.

2:30pm – Digiscoping with Sharon Steitler. The “Birdchick” will show you how to take amazing photographs using a simple digital camera and spotting scope. You can finally capture that eagle in the distance! Second floor classroom.

Wings of Wonder flying bird show this weekend!

Our feature program this weekend is the Cincinnati Zoo’s Wings of Wonder flying bird show. This show features Rio, a Hyacinth Macaw, Arik, a Steller’s Sea Eagle, an African Penguin and many other feathered friends. You’ll be delighted by the birds calling, flying, mimicking and just plain outsmarting their trainers!

“SOAR with the Eagles” Events for the weekend of March 10th & 11th

Our feature program this weekend will be EarthQuest with presenter Steve Hoddy. In this Birds of Prey program you’ll be amazed to see the wingspan of one of the world’s largest birds, the Andean Condor. You’ll strain to hear a Eurasian Eagle Owl in flight and wonder at the Harris Hawk’s precision landings. Steve Hoddy is a wildlife educator and animal trainer who has worked with a variety of animals in TV and film. Saturday 11am and 2pm, Sunday 12pm and 2pm. All feature programs will be held at St. Felix auditorium, Pembroke Ave, Wabasha, MN.

Bill Route is currently the program manager for the National Park Service’s Great Lakes Inventory and Monitoring Network.  Second floor classroom.
