Your Home For On the Lake and
On the River Cruises!

The National Eagle Center sits along the banks of the Upper Mississippi River in the heart of the Driftless Area. We enjoy spectacular natural beauty and a bounty of native birds and wildlife year-round. As part of our mission to “Connect people with eagles in nature, history, and cultures”, we are pleased to offer interpretive cruises on the Mississippi River and Lake Pepin. These cruises offer our guests excellent opportunities to view and learn about bald eagles and other native wildlife, the history of our natural resources, and the current threats they face from our expert naturalists, and relax while enjoying the natural beauty of the Upper Mississippi River Valley.

Join us on the Pearl of the Lake and enjoy a leisurely two-hour summer cruise. Our naturalists will be onboard to present an educational program about the lake and its inhabitants. Learn about the importance of Lake Pepin as a critical habitat along the Upper Mississippi River Flyway for migrating waterfowl and the current challenges the lake faces due to sedimentation. Plus, get real-time interpretation about wildlife that we view during the trip around the lake. We’re sure to see some bald eagles, gulls and other native birds, so bring your binoculars and burning questions about Lake Pepin and native wildlife.

Please plan to arrive in Lake City, MN at 3:15pm as boarding will begin 15 minutes prior to departure. The Pearl of the Lake docks at The Willows in Lake City.

Additional Information

The Pearl of the Lake is docked at the Willows on the River Condominium Complex at the intersection of Highway 61 and Central Point Road at the north end of Lake City (across the highway from Americ-Inn and Burger King).  Park in the parking lot, enter the main entrance to the building, and proceed down the hall past the Lake House Restaurant to our booth where you purchase tickets and/or pick up your boarding pass. After picking up your boarding pass, you proceed out the rear exit of the building to the boat.

Because of their unique design and regulatory characteristics, excursion vessels are not subject to the same ADA Accessibility Guidelines that buildings are. That said, we make every reasonable effort to assist and accommodate passengers with special needs. Coast Guard regulations require raised thresholds in doorways for water barriers.  Our on-board restrooms are not large enough to accommodate wheelchairs.
