ALONG THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER — Members of the House Capital Investment Committee took a tour of towns on the Mississippi River Tuesday to hear pitches for projects for the 2018 bonding bill that will be part of the next legislative session.
“This is the South Shore of Minnesota,” said Red Wing Rep. Barb Haley, a Republican who compared the region along the Mississippi River that includes cities such as Red Wing, Lake City and Wabasha, which were on the tour, plus Winona and La Crescent. “We want to be a destination for families.”
Lawmakers started their day at the state Capitol before heading to Cottage Grove, Hastings, the towns along the river and Rochester, where they made three stops.
